Family Fun at Friary Park with Pink Patsy and Crew! 🌍 🌱

Every year on 22nd April, people all around the globe come together to celebrate the biggest, bluest, greenest home we know: planet Earth! From the tallest trees to the tiniest ladybirds, our world is packed with wonders, and World Earth Day is the perfect excuse to stop, look around and say a great big thank you. 🌳🐞
But our planet needs a little help from its friends. Litter, pollution, climate change and disappearing wild spaces are making life tricky for the plants and creatures we share it with.
What can you do? Pick up litter, reuse and recycle, plant something green, turn off lights you’re not using, or simply spend time outdoors noticing the nature around you. Little hands can make a big difference, and every planet protector counts! 🌍💚
Pink Patsy Loves Our Planet 🌸🌍
Stories that grow a love of nature
Written by Wendy Gallagher and hand-painted by Margaret Townsend, the Pink Patsy books are full of flowers, minibeasts and outdoor adventures. Pink Patsy and the Honeybee shows how bees help flowers grow, and Pink Patsy and the Ladybird invites little ones to count all the minibeasts they can find. Pink Patsy loves nothing more than exploring the natural world, and she hopes every child who reads her stories will feel curious, caring and connected to the planet we all call home. 🐝🌼

Here’s what’s in store:
🎨 Family Fun with Magmay Books
Wendy, the author, and Margaret, the talented illustrator of the Pink Patsy books, will be hosting the day together with our friends Katya and Omar, with Jake and Jess joining in too. Come and say hello at our family-friendly stall featuring:
- Plant Your Own Sunflowers and Daffodils: children can plant their very own sunflower seeds and daffodil bulbs to take home, then watch them grow into something bright and beautiful. 🌻
- Something to Paint: get creative and add your own splash of colour to take home with you. 🎨
- Signed Pink Patsy Books: pick up your very own signed copy, featuring Wendy’s heartwarming storytelling and Margaret’s delightful paintings. A book you’ll treasure for years to come.
🐰 Meet Pink Patsy!
Pink Patsy herself will be hopping along to join in the fun! Look out for our favourite pink hare and come and say hello, give her a wave or grab a photo together. 💕

🌸 Pollination with Jake
Our friend Jake is coming along with his flower to show the children how pollination works. He’ll explain how bees and other insects carry pollen from flower to flower, helping plants to grow seeds, fruit and food for us all.
Jake explains it all really clearly, so even the youngest children understand why pollinators matter so much to our planet. It’s learning that feels like play! 🐝🌼
🖌️ Art with Jess
Jess will be joining us to lead the art activities, helping children of all ages explore colour, nature and their own imaginations. Whether you’re a confident little artist or picking up a brush for the very first time, Jess will help you create something to be proud of. 🎨🌍
